“Christ has died, Christ is risen, Christ will come again.”

As we walk though lent we will be guided by a devotional entitled: Deepening our friendship with God. We invite you to pick up one and read a daily devotion to guide you. Along they way we will explore what it means to have a friendship with God, how we can deepen it, and what a joy it is to have a friendship with God. Come join us on the journey!

Ash Wednesday begins the 40 days of lent, a time when we remember that Jesus spent 40 days in the desert fasting and resisting temptation. As we enter the season of Lent, a time of reflection, repentance, and preparation for the celebration of Easter, we invite you to join us for a special Ash Wednesday Worship Service that will offer a meaningful and contemplative experience with prayer stations, times for reflection and a variety of ways to connect with God. The reflective atmosphere of the service will help prepare our hearts for the Lenten journey ahead.

*The service will include the imposition of ashes as a symbol of repentance and a reminder of our mortality*

Palm Sunday celebrates Jesus’s triumphal entry into Jerusalem, where the crowd of people laid out palm branches to honor him as king. In true humility, Jesus rode over those branches into Jerusalem, not on a magnificent stallion, but on the colt of a donkey. Palm Sunday, also known as Passion Sunday, begins Holy Week celebrating the glory of Jesus Christ.

Holy Thursday commemorates Jesus’s last supper with his disciples. During that meal in the upper room, Jesus washed his disciples’ feet and gave them a new commandment: “Just as I have loved you, you also should love one another” (John 13:34).

The theme of the “Deepening our Friendship with God” devotional is God is the Love that forgives. The sanctuary will be open from 12-2 PM with self-guided exercises to allow you to discover God’s forgiveness in deeper ways.

Good Friday, the Friday before Easter Sunday, we remember Jesus Christ’s death on the cross as atonement for our sins. Good Friday worship invites Christians to reflect on the suffering Christ went through for our sake by sacrificing his life for our sins. Reflecting on how much Christ suffered to pay for our sins deepens the joy and gratitude we feel for the gift of new life with Christ that we celebrate on Easter Sunday.

Our traditional service will feature the Chancel Choir with a focus on the role of faith in light of Christ’s work on the cross. It will be a service of scripture, music, and preaching..
