Christmastime at Bethany

Christmas Eve at Bethany

The Christmas season is here, and that has always been a beautiful time at Bethany. Last year, many of us were particularly sad that we could not share together in so many of the things that make the season special - especially on Christmas eve. So, this year, we are excited to share how we will celebrate Christmas. Our theme this year will be: The Little Things. Often it is the little things that make a big difference and that touch others in profound ways. We invite you to join us in that and all of the other ways we celebrate Jesus.

Our Christmas eve services are as follows:

2 PM Blended. This service will feature both traditional and contemporary elements. Susan Ricker will play the organ at the service and members of both the choir and the praise band will share music together. It will feature the specials like O Holy night as well as an upbeat version of Joy to the World. Come out and celebrate as both traditional and contemporary worship together.

4 pm Family. This is our family service and will be led by our children. They are hard at work even now rehearsing a special Christmas pageant, learning to play a Christmas carol or two on the handbells, and practicing scripture readings and prayers. We will sing Christmas carols together and have a child-friendly candle-lighting.

6 pm Contemporary. This service features our Praise Band and a more contemporary style to the service overall with a higher energy. Christmas eve usually has more traditional elements in general with the Lighting of the Christ candle and the Christmas blessing and those will be included in this service as well as the closing with Silent night and candle lighting.

8 PM Traditional. This service is known for a variety of music offerings. It will not only feature the chancel choir singing “Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus", but also includes handbell selections, special vocalists, violin, cello, and organ. We will also celebrate with our traditional “O Holy Night”, an uplifting rendition of “O Come, All Ye Faithful” and candlelighting to “Silent Night”.

Due to rising COVID cases and in an effort to keep everyone safe, ALL attendees must be masked while in the building and throughout the entirety of the service. We will be limiting worship in the sanctuary to approximately 200 persons, with overflow seating provided in Fellowship Hall. Seating will be on a first come, first serve basis.
