Operation Charm City Charge

The Mission Continues: June 22-23, 2019

The week of June 20 – 27, the Mission Continues will deploy more than 80 military veterans from across the country to join forces and tackle tough challenges in the neighborhoods of Brooklyn, Curtis Bay and Harlem Park West.
Bethany is currently focusing on the first two events of the week. Please meet at Bethany UMC at 8:15am to carpool both Saturday and Sunday.
Participants will serve in a variety of roles over five high-octane days at key community institutions, working alongside community partners and volunteers to create visible change.

PROJECT DAY ONE: Harlem Park West

WHEN: Saturday, June 22 ● 9am – 4pm

WHERE: 1807 Harlem Ave, Baltimore, MD 21217

WHAT: Working alongside the Harlem Park West Community Association.

THE WORK: We’ll be working to transform green spaces, spruce up blighted buildings, and support the learning efforts of local public school children in an effort to support the neighborhood’s efforts to attract development opportunities and rally the community together.

PROJECT DAY TWO: Farring-Baybrook Park

WHEN: Sunday, June 23 ● 9am – 4pm

WHERE: 4300 W Bay Ave, Baltimore, MD 21225

WHAT: Creating safe passage trails within the Brooklyn and Curtis Bay area.

THE WORK: At the request of the INSPIRE team, the Greater Baybrook Alliance, and local parents, we’ll be working to improve the paths/connections between the Curtis Bay neighborhood and the new Baybrook Elementary-Middle School building to ensure a safe path to school for hundreds of students.
