Missions

Missions Update:

Our Missions Team has been busy working on how Bethany can best serve the community while continuing to practice safe distancing and following the Governor’s guidelines.

Here is a message from the Missions chair Sandy Ugol:

Have you been thinking about ways you might contribute to the greater community during the Covid crisis? The Mission Committee is looking for a few volunteers to assist with the following:

1. Communicate via phone and/or email with organizations we plan to partner with for mission activities, including donations; maybe 2 hours a week from your home

2. Organize administrative tasks related to volunteers who assist with various mission activities, this might include creating a schedule, tracking names, making phone calls or sending emails; maybe 2 hours a week and from your home.

3. Create a list of community organizations that need assistance by conducting web searches, checking social media, reading the paper, listening to the news and sending that to the Mission Team to evaluate how we might support.

Volunteer Opportunities

The Mission Team is seeking some volunteers who would like to use their gifts in the following areas.  If you have a heart for any of these–or ideas for a new project– and would like more info please contact bethanymissionserve@gmail.com or Sandy Ugol. There will be plenty of training and support!  Thanks.

Grassroots/Soup ‘R Sundae – Ellen Prucha is the coordinator for our support of Soup ‘R Sundae but she needs willing hands to help.  Gifts would include seeking donations for the silent auction, coordinating Bethany donations and delivery to the event and working with our Glen Mar partners.

Prison Ministry Camperships – serve as point person for outreach to families with an incarcerated parent offering free camperships for summer . This would begin in January with training during fall of this year.  It is an administrative role primarily with the outreach and then publicity.  Estimated time commitment would be about 5 hours per month during January-June.  We also hope to expand our interactions with the families next week and will be discussing ways we can support them throughout the year.

Single Event Volunteer – We are looking for someone who is willing to help coordinate small one-time events throughout the year.  Examples might include organizing volunteers for Thanksgiving Meal Preparation at a local kitchen, Christmas Holiday party with a partner, giving out water at a Walk-A-Thon, etc.  There are lots of small events where we have an opportunity to impact the community and just need someone with a heart to help organize. Thanks!  Your Mission Team
