How To Become a Member of Bethany

Each year Bethany offers ConnectionPoint around February and October with each session meeting for 3-4 Sunday evenings. If you desire to attend you may let us know by indicating your interest on the fellowship pad passed down the pews each Sunday or by calling the church office 410-465-2919.

Six weeks before the session begins, letters of invitation are sent to people who have expressed an interest and those who have been worshipping with us. At the end of ConnectionPoint individuals decide whether it is the right time to join Bethany.

At the end of the ConnectionPoint you may choose to complete the process and participate in a new member ceremony or wait and decide at another time. There is no pressure whatsoever.

For those who choose to join Bethany they move into a 5-6 week small group study and join soon afterwards. There is no pressure whatsoever. Any questions about this process should be directed to Judy Fenner, The Director of Group Life and Membership.

For anyone who attends ConnectionPoint it is a great place to learn more about the United Methodist Church and Bethany as well as meet the pastors and other folks from our church. Time is devoted to sharing about our different ministries and activities. You will learn specifically about how to get involved at Bethany.

If you are considering joining BUMC as a member, there are three ways to unite with our church family.

  • Confession of Faith (not a member of any denomination)
  • Transfer from another United Methodist Church
  • Transfer from another denomination

If you have not been baptized, the pastors will baptize you prior to joining or at the time of your decision to join.
